100 years of Presque Isle exhibition

Presque Isle State Park is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a new educational exhibit showcasing the history of the park. This exhibit will be on display from May 17 to August 23 at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center. In this exhibit you will find newspaper articles, photographs, maps and more. Goodell Gardens Summer Music Series

Thanks to generous sponsors, admission to the 2021 Summer Music Series is free, although donations are welcome! Summer concerts are from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Bring your most comfortable lawn chair (or borrow one of our own), face mask and dance shoes, and enjoy great music in a great atmosphere! Downtown Farmer’s Market

The weekly Farmers’ Market will be held in Perry Square on August 8 starting at 10 a.m. This event will also feature live music on the Perry Square stage from noon to 1 p.m.

Saturdays by the river at the National Comedy Center

Join the National Comedy Center in Jamestown, New York for their FREE “Riverside Saturday” series at Comedy Center Park, featuring a variety show, acrobats, comedy movie screening and more! A limited number of places are available, so it is recommended that you bring garden chairs and blankets. Beer, wine and snacks will be available for purchase. This event will also include music, a terrace cafe / bar and fun activities for the whole family. The Riverside Saturdays series will take place on Saturday nights and will culminate with a free outdoor comedy film from June 26 to August 7. Enjoy comedy in the museum all day, then outdoor activities and drinks at 7 p.m. with the movie starting at 8:45 p.m. This week’s theme is the classic Lucy and Desi episodes / moments. Weeks of Summer Fun at the National Comedy Center

The National Comedy Center in Jamestown, New York, celebrates some of the most beloved comedy genres and talents from June 20 to August 7 with Summer Fun Weeks. Each week, the Comedy Center will honor a special kind of comedy within the National Comedy Center with fun activities for all ages, special video programming, and outdoor events, culminating with a free outdoor comedy film at The Comedy. Center Park tied to a weekly theme, during their Riverside Saturday celebrations. The theme for this week is workplace comedy. From The Office to 30 Rock to Cheers and M * A * S * H, workplace humor has been at the center of some of the most revered movies and TV shows of all time. Play hooky this week and hang out with your favorite comedy colleagues. This week is We Love Lucy and Desi week. Since its debut in 1951, I Love Lucy has brought joy and inspiration to millions of people. This is the last event at Bastion Studios, so come and see this magnificent building one last time with local vendors and artists. Join unique local manufacturers for a monthly pop-up shop with revolving vendors from the Erie region. There will be a bit of everything available. 55th Annual Dan Rice Days

The Dan Rice Days 2021 festival is launched! Dan Rice was an established circus owner long before he made Girard his home. In 1965, Joseph Mager Jr. and a group of volunteers came together to plan a celebration to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the erection and unveiling of the Civil War Memorial in the downtown area. This celebration marked the start of Dan Rice Days, which have grown and become more popular each year. Held the first full weekend in August of each year, a dedicated committee is now planning the celebration that recognizes and commemorates the many contributions Daniel McClaren (aka Dan Rice) has made to the town of Girard. The festival offers free entertainment, craft vendors and merchants, great local cuisine, educational activities and a parade. The Festival begins on Thursday evening and ends on Saturday evening. Italian feast of St. Paul

For three great days in August, the people of Erie celebrate our Italian-American heritage with food and friendship, all in thanksgiving to God. This festival will begin on Friday August 6 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. with a pasta e fagioli dinner at the parish center. The festival will continue on Saturday August 7 from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will include a spaghetti tasting competition at 3 p.m. The festival will end on Sunday August 8 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will include another spaghetti dinner from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the central parish. Flower festival of harbor farms

Port Farms will open for its 2021 season with a new five-acre flower festival where guests can pick their own zinnias and sunflowers. The Flower Festival will run from August 7 to September 12, 2021 (open Thursday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.). General Port Farm admission will be required for entry and will include one free bloom. Other pickup package options will be available. The farm will provide mowers, a picking bag, and a watering station. Other options such as mason jars and buckets will be available for an additional cost. On-farm activities will be open, along with live music, a Beer Garden featuring Lavery Brewing, and more. The Children’s Museum experiment missed its 25th anniversary celebration last year due to COVID-19. Join the museum as they celebrate this year! Celebrate the museum with face painting by Taradoodles, music by DJ Bill Page and a show by Danka ‘n Ollie from “Forever Friends”, plus free hot dogs, cakes and refreshments. The birthday party is included in the entry, so join the party and play through the exhibits like in 1995. Second Sunday – Outdoor Chalk Wall Painting

Every second Sunday of the month, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Erie Art Museum hosts a drop-in art class for you and your creative kids. Admission is Pay-What-You-Wish, and donations are appreciated.
