Kendrick Lamar is finally back with his new song “The Heart Part 5”.
K. Dot dropped out of the track Sunday night (May 8) at 8:00 a.m. EST. This is his first solo collaboration since 2018, when he released the film’s soundtrack. Black Panther.
Not only is this Kendrick Lamar’s first piece of music in a while, but the new track comes days before his highly anticipated new album. Mr. Morale and Big Stepswhich is due out this Friday, May 13.
Prior to today’s new sounds and Kendrick’s features with Keem in 2021, he had taken quite a significant musical hiatus, with his latest solo album, SLIM., which will arrive in 2017. It is plausible that this new record could feature on Kendrick Lamar’s latest album, Top Dawg Entertainment, announced last summer. About six months ago, Kendrick revealed that he would be spreading his wings and leaving the TDE nest.
In a written letter shared via social media, the 2011 alumnus XXL Freshman wrote, “As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years. The struggles. The success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood. May the Most High continues to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling.”
