Research and digitization strengthen NSM

NSM has built and refined its digital museum platform “Silk Road Online Museum” in collaboration with more than forty museums around the world. This initiative allows the general public to participate in virtual experiences, including digital collections, digital exhibitions, digital knowledge and an online curatorial platform.

International collaborations strengthen NSM

NSM has also been closely involved in different cross-border collaborations, aiming to foster new ideas that generate innovation and help the museum think outside the box. In 2020, the museum cooperated with overseas researchers and universities to launch the “World Silk Map”.

Community integration enable NSM

For years, NSM has also been committed to communities to promote and preserve China traditional craftsmanship. The museum has partnered with devotees of Hanfu (the traditional clothing styles worn by Han Chinese) to host the Hanfu Festival every April.

The forum also provided a unique opportunity for museum leaders from around the world to come together for a sustained exchange of ideas and expertise on this year’s International Museum Day theme “The Power of Museums”, aimed at bring positive change to the world of museums.
