One Direction fans beg Madame Tussauds to let them keep wax body parts

Ne Direction fans have begged Madame Tussauds to allow them to keep their body parts in wax after the attraction announced it was pulling the exhibit.

Madame Tussauds in Baker Street has kept the figures of Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan together even after the real singers decided to pursue solo careers six years ago.

With the characters retired, the London attraction was bombarded with messages pleading with staff to hand them over.

Fans pleaded for specific body parts, including the lips, limbs and little fingers of Harry, Liam, Zayn, Louis and Niall.

Generous fans have offered to pay the delivery costs to have the One Direction boys placed in their rooms. Among the outlandish requests, one offered to charter a private jet to Australia.

Managing Director Tim Waters said: “Six years after parting ways, the number of requests we have received from One Direction fans offering to take possession of some or all of our One Direction figures now that they have been retired shows what impact they had on their fans.

“One superfan even said he’d be willing to hire a private jet from Sydney to fly the figurines to him!”

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: “Just found out One Direction is no longer in Madame Tussauds and I am devastated. Literally grieving that I will never have a picture with the fake boys.

Another asked: ‘If Madame Tussauds is going to scrap the one way wax figures can I have them? I’ll settle for Harry only if I need to.

One existential fan wrote, “This year is getting worse and worse.”

The group’s wax works were first unveiled in 2013 and the group posed for a photoshoot with their lookalikes.

Their sculptures were made by about twenty craftsmen who worked on the statues for two months.

Lead sculptor Stephen Mansfield said they worked around the “boys’ crazy schedule” to make sure they were perfect.

After Zayn Malik decided to leave the band in 2015, Madame Tussauds employed a fabric assistant to stand next to the band’s wax works.
