Mysuru: The ten-day Bahuroopi National Theater Festival, the annual cultural extravaganza organized by Rangayana, will be held from March 11.
Rangayana started distributing offline tickets from Wednesday. The main personality of the theater, Nagachandra, launched the distribution of tickets by symbolically buying a ticket for Rs 100.
Speaking to reporters, Rangayana director Addanda C Cariappa said this year’s festival focuses on showcasing “motherhood and motherhood”. The festival will feature 35 plays in different languages ​​performed by troupes from across the country.
Folk Art Performances, International Film Festival, National Seminar, Book Exhibition, Handicrafts Exhibition, Culinary Delights and Demonstrations will be held at the premises of Rangayana Bhoomigeetha, Kalamandira, Vanaranga, BV Karanth Rangachavadi , Sampath Rangamandira and Kindari Jogi.
The festival will also feature performances by Yakshagana, Bayalata, Doddata and Bombeyata.
Padmashree award winner Tulasigowda will open the Bahuroopi National Theater Festival at 4:30 p.m. in Vanaranga. Mysuru District Minister, ST Somashekhar, will open a handicraft exhibition, Energy and Kannada and Culture Minister, Sunil Kumar, will publish a book on Rangotsava released on this occasion.
On March 19 at 4:30 p.m., senior litterateur Na D’Souza will open the seminar on ‘Mother and Motherhood’. Hiremagaluru Kannan and Chakravarthi Sulibele will also talk about motherhood.
Cariappa said up to 64 stalls would pop up at the Rangayana premises displaying books, crafts and food. Films will be screened every day at 10:30 a.m., 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the festival.
Excluding tickets for plays, admission is free for the public for the other events of the festival. He said tickets cost Rs 50 each for plays staged by Rangayana troupes and Rs 100 for plays staged by other troupes.
